12 weeks of Christmas

3 weeks until the big man leaves us all coal as we’ve been naughty this year… Well that’s very presumptuous of me to assume everyone leads a double life as a night time villan!

With the Christmas holidays fast approaching I’ve got a few simple craft / gift ideas for the kids to do!

Homemade Christmas cards.

I used A5 card I got from the range and a Christmas stamp I’ve had for year.

Pip cleaner bows !

Felt presents which I pre cut as my kids are under 4.

Bar the extra glue I think these simple cards turned out lovely and my eldest had so much fun.

Chridtmas Tree box frames

These were stupid easy and cheap!

Frames are from Poundland

The backing paper from Poundland it came in a pack with load of different designs

Green trees were from the same card pack as above

Pompoms and tree decorations were all from Poundland

The stem is felt and the tree base is corrugated card from morrisons! But you could easily just colour those or paint them.

I also chose to add glitter to the.bottom of the frames mainly as I have enough glitter to fill a swimming pool!

It cost about £6 for the craft pieces, we made 12 frames and still have stuff left over and £1  per frame! BARGIN

I think we all know what my family members are getting from the kids this year !

I hope your all enjoying the festive season and not stressing to much

Much love

12 weeks of Christmas

Wow it’s only 4 weeks and counting now until father Christmas comes!

First of all I do apologise for being a day late with this post I’ve just had a manic week.

This week I want to talk about stockings!

Do you have a stocking,  a sack or may be even both?

Do you by new every year or do you have an old favorite you use year after year?

For me, my great grandmother made us all when we were born a bucilla Christmas stocking and I must say they are beautiful. So when I had my children I asked.my grandmother (as my great grandmother is no longer with us) to make my two there very own

As you can see mine is very well loved and looking a little tatty these days

My partner on the other hand has nothing like this he said his mum just used to by a new one every year? For me I find this strange but we are a family of traditions where as his family isn’t.

For example

  • We go to my grandmother’s for Christmas every other year and on the years we don’t go we go for new years day
  • The bucilla stockings
  • My parents, I and my cousins have a bacon sandwich breakfast round alternate homes every year so we get to see each other as we all have our own family and commitments now

The list is endless.

What are your family traditions? I am talking today about my traditions growling up as my children are stil young we are now starting our own tradtioning within our family.

Tis the season to be jolly!

12 weeks of Christmas!

Christmas is fast approaching 8 weeks to be precise!

This week I have been thinking about homemade Christmas cards and crafts to enjoy with your little ones!

Hands and feet cards.

Nice but simple finger print candy cane

Father Christmas and his white beard

I love this one but it’s a bit to adventurous for me with 2 under 4!

I made a variation of this reindeer the year before last with my daughter.

I am loving this idea as it has such a modern feel.

Craft / decoration ideas.

I think this is such a cute idea I know my 3yr old would love to make and decorate her own Christmas tree.

These candy canes are a quick and easy craft that you can use as decoration for your tree or on gifts which the recipient can then put on there tree.

Crafts with supplies you littereally have coming out of your ears it’s like music to mine.

These adorable pegs would make great card holders.

I made the Christmas trees and the stars from the picture above last year with my daughter.

OMG how lush is this! It is on my to do list so I’ll let you know how it turnes out.
I , I say I by that i mean me and my daughter are currently made home decor items which I plan to give to our parents and grandparents as extra gifts for Christmas this year. So stay tuned for that as I’ll be doing a step by step for you.

I hope you all have had a lovely weekend!

Follow alone with the 12 weeks of Christmas.x

Half term activities with my under 5’s

Where to start? My eldest has been at nursery since she was 2, but this is her first half term. I used to do stretch funding (she used to go only 2 mornings a weeks but all year round rather than 3 morning term time). So I am trying to plan a few activities as she’s an antcy pants when it comes to lazy home days!

  • Leaf and stone collecting at the local woods
  • Day at the beach (weather depending)
  • Trip to the park
  • Toilet roll monster crafts as it’s Halloween

  • Cookie making

I’m always looking for activity ideas for my 2 kids so if you have any please please do comment with any ideas you have !

Caramel apple empanadas.

These aren’t completely festive but they are defiantly autumn appropriate.

*Disclaimer this isn’t my recipe but it was just to good to keep to my self! caramel apple empanadas.**

Ingredients:

64g / 1/2 cup light brown sugar

2 tbsp butter

1 tbsp lemon juice

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp nutmeg

1 tbsp corn flour

Dash of water

Premade short crust pastry at room temp

Egg wash

Extra sugar for sprinkling.
On a medium heat use a high sides skillet pan. Add the apples, sugar, butter, nutmeg, vanilla lemon and cinnamon. Cook for 5mins or until the butter and sugar have created a caramel sauce.

Mix corn flour and a dash of water together in a sperate bowl. Add it to the Apple mixture, bring to the boil and cook for a further 3-4 mins. Until it is thick and yummy.

Leave to cool completely.

Use a 3 1\2 inch round cutter to cut disk shapes. Line a baking tray with grease proof paper.

Place a small amount of mixture in the centre of your discs and fold in half like a pasty. Use a fork to crimp the edges together.

Use a sharp lift to pierce a tiny slit in the top of each empanada to help release the steam.

Egg wash and sprinkle with a light dusting of sugar.

Bake at 180° for 18-20 mins

Cook and enjoy. Serve with remaining caramel sauce or chantilly cream.

My 3yr old helped fill, fold and egg wash ours so I am sure yours will look much prettyer.

I hope you enjoy the first edition.

Please let me know how I did. And what you would like to see throughout these 12 weeks xx

Diary of a Little Peach

A typical boy??

What is a typical boy ?

I never belived in “boys” and “girls” I have always belived that a child is who he or she is and there likes dislikes and behaviour was due to upbringing .

Oh how I was wrong both of my children have been brought up the same and I don’t treat them any differently because if there gender.  Granted I have been a lot more relaxed with my son (2nd child) but isn’t every one.?. And I don’t think I was that much of a freety  mum In the first place with my daughter I have always been very children will be children, they will eat dirt and they will fall over there’s no need to panic or fret theyll live sort of mum.

But never the less my daughter loves arts and crafts and has from a very young age she loves to sing and dance and sparkly things.

My son still eats paint and for the 5secs in which he stops, he flicks the paintbrush so paint splirts up the walls. He loves to dance but he loves nothing more than playing in the garden with his transporter or playing on his ride on.

His temperament is a lot different he is impatient and will go Tasmanian devil on you in the blink of an eye! Such a man thing no patience. He’s also very rough and tumble which you’d associate with a little boy. Yes forever banging something on something usually as he’s tried to climb on something he shouldn’t or jump of something he shouldn’t without looking first!

I hope this is making sence and you can really see how different they are and it’s not just personalities you could literally pidgen hole my children! My daughter doesn’t like being dirty, my son thinks a bath is full of acid ! Type of thing.

Is anyone else’s children like this or is it just mind?

Please let me know your thoughts

Much love
