12 weeks of Christmas

3 weeks until the big man leaves us all coal as we’ve been naughty this year… Well that’s very presumptuous of me to assume everyone leads a double life as a night time villan!

With the Christmas holidays fast approaching I’ve got a few simple craft / gift ideas for the kids to do!

Homemade Christmas cards.

I used A5 card I got from the range and a Christmas stamp I’ve had for year.

Pip cleaner bows !

Felt presents which I pre cut as my kids are under 4.

Bar the extra glue I think these simple cards turned out lovely and my eldest had so much fun.

Chridtmas Tree box frames

These were stupid easy and cheap!

Frames are from Poundland

The backing paper from Poundland it came in a pack with load of different designs

Green trees were from the same card pack as above

Pompoms and tree decorations were all from Poundland

The stem is felt and the tree base is corrugated card from morrisons! But you could easily just colour those or paint them.

I also chose to add glitter to the.bottom of the frames mainly as I have enough glitter to fill a swimming pool!

It cost about £6 for the craft pieces, we made 12 frames and still have stuff left over and £1  per frame! BARGIN

I think we all know what my family members are getting from the kids this year !

I hope your all enjoying the festive season and not stressing to much

Much love

12 weeks of Christmas

Well it’s only 5 weeks now!  Omg where has the year gone?

Personally I don’t set new years resolutions but I do decided things I want to do that are realistic … such as redecorate the living room or go to a specific place. If i set resolutions like loose weight or join the gym I know I’m setting myself up for failer before I even start ?

What are your new year resolutions,

I would love for you to share your aspirations for 2018!

Homemade crafts

Every year I look at wreaths and either don’t like them or find them far to expensive, so this year I decided to make my own !

I used am old wooden wreath of my grandmothers, ripped all the old decorations off and started from scratch.

I brought the flowers from the range and the berry sticks and leaves were from dumel last year in the sales (50p). I reused the smaller pinecones from what was originally on the wreath and just hot glued them on.

Chuffed even if I do say so myself !

Oh also the wreath hanger was from pound land ! Bargin I had been looking on eBay and they wanted £9-£20!

Well it’s nearly December and time to decorate… (1st of December in my house)

When do you decorate?

Catch up with my 12 weeks of Christmas series here.

I need serious mum help!

Right I’m just gonna get straight into this…. my just turned 2yr old was an amazing sleeper and would always go down without a fight..  until he was about 15months he started waking in the night a refusing to go to bed awake… I used to hear him banging his arms legs and head on the bars of his cot so we decided to turn his cot into a cot bed at about 21months ? hopping to solve the problem.

We’ll it didn’t. Then when I had my emergency surgery (the first night he’d ever spent without me) he has got 100 times worse, waking 3/4times a night screaming and them being a nightmare to get back down. Not going to bed awake or if he is awake I have to stay until he falls asleep…. I know your all reading this and thinking…. leave him to scream or something but heres my problems.

My 2 children share a room and so by almost sleep training him all over again means my daughter cannot go to bed until he’s finally asleep where ever that May be?

So please please please mum’s out there i am in desperate need of advice on what to do!!!

HELP !

12 weeks of Christmas

Ahh it’s 7 weeks until Christmas… is any body else panicking. This week I thought I would share some of my favorite Christmas recipes, although none of these are just for Christmas. Some super easy cheats fudge, yorky puds for those of us who usually fail and yummy short bread.

Also don’t forget to try my gingerbread man recipe as well as the extremly Moorish caramel apple empanadas

Christmas shortbread biscuits!

250g unsalted butter ( at room temp)

125g caster sugar

240g plain flour

Pre heat your over to 150°c

Line two baking trays with grease proof paper.

Method (for best results do it the old fashioned way with a wooden spoon and bowl)

  • Cream the butter until smooth and soft.
  • Add flour and sugar mix until combined.
  • Lightly need the dough with slightly flour hands.
  • Chill in the fridge for 2mins.
  • Half the dough equally.
  • Roll out between 2 pieces of grease proof (1/4inch thickness )
  • Cut into festive shapes
  • Bake for 15-20 mins

This recipes makes around 20 biscuits and will keep in an air tight container for about a week.

To make spiced biscuits replace caster sugar with soft brown sugar and add a tsp cinnamon.

To make lemon add the rind of one unwaxed lemon.

To make tree decoration biscuits use a tooth pick create a whole at the top for the sting before baking.

Simple icing which is great for kids:

150g for sifted icing sugar

2tbs warm water

Food colour of your choice

Mix until paste like and pip as you like.
The best yorky puds.

Full disclaimer I have never be able to make Yorkshire puddings until about 6months ago I found this recipe.. Well method I guess?  And I have never looked back!

4 eggs

200ml milk

200g plain flour

Pinch of salt.

Method.

Preheat oven to 190°

Use sunflower oil rather than vegetable (apparently it has a different smoking temperature )

Put half cm of oil into each hole on a muffin tin.  Heat until smoking. Approx 15mins.

Use the largest bowl you have.

Whisk the eggs then add milk and whisk (adding plenty of air)

Sift in the flour and add salt and whisk until the lumps are gone.

Transfer into a jug or anything with a pouring spout.

Take muffin tin out of the oven.

Fill the holes but using a spoon to catch the drips in between holes as if you have better inbetween it can restric the puds growth.

Cook for 20-25mins

Remember the most important step DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR. It will cause then to sink.
Cheats fudge!

400g golden caster sugar

397g can of condensed milk

140g salted butter chopped into pieces

1tsp vanilla bean paste

(Optional) 2tsp coffee liqueur, amaretto or any other alcohol

 Method

Grease and line a 20cm square baking tin with baking parchment. Put the sugar, condensed milk and butter in a large heatproof bowl (the mixture will bubble up as it cooks to roughly double its size), add a good pinch of salt and stir.

Heat the mixture in the microwave on High for 10 mins, stirring every 2-3 mins. Keep an eye on the mixture, as it will bubble up and may go over the sides of the bowl.

Add the vanilla and liqueur to the mixture, whisk together and heat on High for another 2 mins. The mixture should be caramel-coloured and thickened. Scrape into the tin and set aside for 45 mins–1 hr until cool and firm before cutting. Pack into a box and eat within 3 weeks

  1. You could even once cooled add a layer of melted chocolate to the top and let that set before cutting into squares?

DO you have an old faithful recipe you typically pull out at Christmas??

I hope you all have had a brilliant weekend celebrating guy forks!

Much love

Half term activities with my under 5’s

Where to start? My eldest has been at nursery since she was 2, but this is her first half term. I used to do stretch funding (she used to go only 2 mornings a weeks but all year round rather than 3 morning term time). So I am trying to plan a few activities as she’s an antcy pants when it comes to lazy home days!

  • Leaf and stone collecting at the local woods
  • Day at the beach (weather depending)
  • Trip to the park
  • Toilet roll monster crafts as it’s Halloween

  • Cookie making

I’m always looking for activity ideas for my 2 kids so if you have any please please do comment with any ideas you have !

Much love
